MELBOURNE - World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki moved into the Australian Open quarterfinals on Sunday with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Anastasija Sevastova.

Wozniacki finished off Sevastova in one hour and 20 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals at Melbourne Park for the first time.

One more victory would ensure that the 20-year-old retains the World No.1 ranking at the end of the tournament.

She will now face either Svetlana Kuznetsova or French Open champion Francesca Schiavone, the Age reports.

The No. 9-seeded Li Na also reached the quarterfinals by beating eighth-seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-3, 6-3.

The 28-year-old will now face either Maria Sharapova or Germany’s Andrea Petkovic in the quarterfinal. (ANI)
