Young leads IUPUI to 86-76 victory over SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. — Alex Young had 28 points and 10 rebounds Saturday as IUPUI closed out its regular season with an 86-76 victory over South Dakota State.

The Jaguars (22-9, 15-3 Summit) finish as the No. 2 seed for the Summit League tournament and will face No. 7 seed Western Illinois in the first round on March 6. South Dakota State (14-15, 10-8) gets the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 IPFW on March 7.

IUPUI shot 72.7 percent in the second half (16 for 22) and 57.1 percent (32 for 56) for the game. Jon Avery added 19 points, Leroy Nobles 13, Billy Pettiford 12 and Robert Glenn 10. Pettiford also had nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks for the Jaguars, who won their fourth straight and swept the season series with South Dakota State.

Clint Sargent led SDSU with 22 points. Nate Wolters added 17 and Kai Williams had 10.
