Goodenow pitches Vandy past Louisville 7-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Vanderbilt’s Richie Goodenow threw a two-hit shutout in his first start of the season, and second of his career, to lead the Commodores to a 7-0 victory over Louisville on Sunday to force a deciding game.

Vanderbilt (44-18) will meet Louisville (50-13), the No. 7 national seed, on Monday night to determine who advances to the super regionals.

The Cardinals will have coach Dan McDonnell back after he served the final game of his three-game suspension Sunday for an altercation with umpires in the Big East tournament.

Goodenow (3-1), a junior left-hander, allowed a double in the third inning and a single in the eighth while walking two and striking out five.

The Commodores used a five-run fifth inning in which they batted around to score all of their runs with two outs and chase Louisville starter Justin Amlung (5-2).
