DEL MAR (GaeaTimes.com)- Champion racehorse Zenyatta successfully won the third consecutive Clement Hirsch Stakes which was held on Saturday in the town of Del Mar in California. The six-year-old mare was able to preserve her perfect record as she went ahead to win her 18th race with a neck victory which was the second closest finish of her career. While running in the 1 1/16-mile race, the champion racehorse took the lead around the eighth pole but her competitor Rinterval was in no mood to let the win slip away just like that as the racehorse gave a tough fight to Zenyatta even during the final moments of the race. However, ultimately it was the six-year-old mare which was successful in crossing the finish line first and clinching her 18th unbeaten victory.
After Zenyatta turned out to be the big winner of Saturday’s Clement Hirsch Stakes, her owner Jerry Moss, who was visibly very excited about the victory, told the reporters gathered at the event that Zenyatta was ‘miracle’ and every time she runs, she is under immense pressure because she is a great horse. During Saturday’s race, Rinterval under jockey Rafael Bejarano was successful in setting the initial pace of the racing competition while Zenyatta followed her in the second last position. Nevertheless, Zenyatta was able to regain full control during the final moments of the race as she went ahead with her final stretch run.
Zenyatta’s jockey Mike Smith later told the media that the way in which the champion racehorse was able to showcase her dominance in the race was indeed highly impressive. Saturday’s win was Zenyatta fourth Grade victory in 2010.
